Description
As concrete material and construction science continues to develop, more owners and engineers are beginning to require that the contractor, placing and finishing concrete slabs-on-ground, are certified to do the work. Why? Because as technology advances, so should the knowledge base of the concrete finisher or contractor! This is the best way for the builder or engineer to assure that their client will receive what has been specified. This one-day course provides you with the following essential information regarding cast-in-place concrete:
* Basic concrete technology | * Control join layout |
* Proper testing procedures | * Troubleshooting |
* Placement procedures | * Curing requirements |
* Finishing tools |
New: Certification of finishers under this program is now one of two options to meet the requirements of the 17th Edition of the Alberta Transportation Standard Specifications for Bridge Construction. Clause 4.16.5
To qualify for the ACI Advanced Concrete Flatwork Finisher designation, you must achieve 70% or greater on the written examination as well as having 4500 hours of work experience and for the ACI Concrete Flatwork Associate designation, you must obtain 70% or greater on the examination with no work experience required. Those that successfully pass the examination will be certified by ACI-International for a five year period.
The students will have up to two hours to complete their written exam.
Please bring a number 2 or HB pencil and eraser as well as a calculator (if you wish) to write your exam. You must bring government issued photo ID to the exam.
If you are attending to achieve the "Advance Concrete Flatwork Finisher" designation, please bring your Work Experience or Affidavit forms with you to the course completed and signed so they may be submitted along with your answer sheet from your written exam.
If you do not have sufficient work experience to qualify for the Advanced Concrete Flatwork Finisher Certification (4500 Hours), you can still attend the program and attain the Concrete Flatwork Associate Certification designation upon successfully passing the written exam and you can upgrade it to the Advanced Concrete Flatwork Finisher Certification upon attaining the required work experience and submitting the signed supporting work experience forms directly to ACI.
